JOB DESCRIPTION

This position serves as the SAP BASIS / HANA Administrator for the customers SAP Systems and Applications.  In addition to providing strategical analysis and recommendations for S/4, C/4, BW/4 HANA Conversion/Upgrades, Migration and OS/DB Conversion Projects, the SAP BASIS / HANA Administrator will also provide technical expertise and leadership to BASIS Administrators and application development staff, by developing operational and quality assurance standards and configuration management policies and procedures designed to meet State standards and promote security, and audit processes to assure  these are adhered to during all application development activities.  S/4, C/4, BW/4, HANA are part of the SAP’s proprietary technologies.
The SAP BASIS / HANA Administrator is responsible for ensuring Infrastructure services are secure, reliable and performing as needed by developing and implementing strategies to ensure infrastructure and application patches and upgrades are being implemented in a timely fashion with low risk to other projects in flight.
 This position is responsible for maintaining the relationship with the selected Cloud hosting vendor and ensuring governance over the daily operation of critical Infrastructure Services, network and application server availability.
This position must be able to function with a minimum of direct supervision and requires a high degree of direct contact with client leadership, program managers and customer project and technology oversight groups.


RESPONSIBILITY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide application architecture expertise as it relates to the development and integration of applications, security, middleware, services, database design, development methodologies, and tools for all systems and applications within the SAP Environment.
  • Assist in developing configuration and change management strategies that are in compliance with the departments Strategic Plan and policies and standards.
  • Consult with application designers on proper application design and appropriate use of enterprise services.
  • Compile or design application architectural models across the client enterprise for use internally and in conjunction with third party technology partners. 
  • Define, implement and maintain the SAP application architecture design methodology, and development and quality standards.
  • Ensure the implementation of security policies and configuration and change management procedures and standards in application architectures, designs, and coding practices.  
  • Understand and provide expertise to development staff and leadership teams related to  Enterprise Security policies and standards.
  • Plan, develop and administer application design-related policies and procedures to promote high quality, accurate and reusable application designs.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance and direction to Application Architects, Database Administrators, Programmer/Analyst(s) supporting application design, database architecture and design and overall application and service architecture functions in client agencies.
  • Define and implement SAP Landscape-related Policies and Procedures
  • Provide oversight of the daily operations for the SAP Cloud Hosting vendor
  • Develop, implement and maintain environment, configuration and change management policies and procedures and ensure adherence.
  • Review all released SAP Notes, security and performance patches and upgrades and coordinate with customers Office of Privacy and Security and the SAP Cloud Hosting vendor to plan and implement all system and application upgrades and patches in a secure manner with minimal impact to projects and ongoing operations.
  • Perform business and technical requirements analysis for client SAP system configurations, middleware, services, database, and development tools.
  • Research and understand the SAP product evolutions and roadmap to provide expertise for business SMEs and Solution architects to be able to efficiently implement new system capabilities.
  • Establish and maintain architecture and plans for high-availability and disaster-recovery systems.  Periodically conduct reviews and maintain plans. 
  • Establish, implement and maintain security and configuration baselines and policies and procedures related to updating configuration or security parameters.
  • Provide oversight for all activities related to SAP upgrades, OS/DB migration, System refresh/client copies and Basis administration.
  • Provide technical support to application designers in the use of the SAP environment and development methodologies.
  • Provide “practical” technical solutions to the development team to solve complex application development problems.
  • Manage application architecture components and documentation versions using the established development and management processes and tools.
  • Ensure the installation, configuration, testing, and implementation of the applications follow the architecture guidelines.
  • Ensure proper operation of the applications.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of processes that improve efficiency and enhance productivity.
  • Provide leadership, consultation and expertise on special teams and projects as assigned.
  • Ensure relevant administrative functions are complete and accurate.
  • Manage SAP Products licenses and adherence to license policies
  • Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • 8-10 years in SAP System Admin/NW/Basis Administration/Technical architecting/delivery
  • Ability to manage deployment Plan, Installation, Post-Installation, Client Copies, System release support and Co-ordination with Functional team, HyperCare support, Transport Setup, Performance optimization, Unit Test & Integration test support
  • Experience with HANA Conversion/Upgrade, Migration and OS/DB Conversion Projects
  • Expert in architecting and supporting solutions around SAP ecosystems and a technology stack of SAP Enterprise Core Component (ECC), Business Intelligence (BI), Enterprise Portal (EP), SAP HANA, Suite on HANA, BW on HANA, SLD, Process Integration (PI/PO), Fiori, CRM, Solution Manager, BOBJ BI/BODS, GRC, JAVA systems etc.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP Basis tasks such as designing and implementing landscape and infrastructure, client strategy, capacity planning (sizing), high-availability and disaster-recovery setup, backup and recovery strategy, storage systems, SAP upgrades, OS/DB migration, System refresh/client copies and Basis administration.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems, including performance analysis and debugging.
  • Deep level of knowledge on HA/DR technologies including design and implementation of Geographically Dispersed HA/DR solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of Database Administration including performance query analysis, sizing, HA/DR and storage/disk design of SAP HANA, Oracle, MaxDB.
  • Strong experience with planning, design, installation, and technical configuration of SAP modules and components.
  • Strong knowledge of Instance, database and query tuning to improve the performance of the database/application.
  • Strong business acumen and customer focus, with excellent leadership communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to provide Implementation consulting for Single Sign-On for SAP landscapes including HANA, BOBJ
  • Ability to work individually (self-motivated) and within a team environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of Solution Manager and SAP Security
  • Basic knowledge on SAP Cloud Platform tools, SAP Cloud Connector etc.

Required Skills:

  • 8 years’ experience with SAP BASIS Administration/Consulting. SAP System Implementation, SAP System installation
  • 8 years’ experience with SAP ECC (FI and HCM), BW, Business Objects, SolMan.
  • 8 years’ experience with full lifecycle Implementation SAP ECC, CRM, SAP NetWeaver 7.0-7.3 based components.
  • 8 years SAP Performance Tuning of NetWeaver (all versions) and HANA based systems.
  • 8 years’ experience in ECC / EHP / SAP NetWeaver Version Upgrade Projects. Along with Unicode conversion projects.
  • 8 years’ experience coordinating multiple installations of the SAP systems in DEV, QA and Production environments.
  • 8 years’ experience performing incident response tasks through remedy when issues arise.

Desired Skills:

  • 7 years’ experience working with Project management, Project Control Office and Management to update parameters in SAP to improve performance.
  • 7 years’ experience assisting developers learn how to diagnose connection issues between SAP systems (i.e. BI to ECC, Portal to BI and MTO to ECC)
  • 7 years’ experience assisting in coordinating efforts with Security team, external implementation partners and hosting partners
  • 5 years configuration experience working with ChaRM and Test Suite Applications in SolMan
  • 2 years’ experience implementing applications with Solution Manager
  • 2 years’ experience with ChaRM Configuration
  • 2 years’ experience with Test Suite Config
